GATE Programme
Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses (GATE) - Trinidad & Tobago
What is GATE?
The Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses (GATE) programme is a financial assistance initiative provided by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to support nationals pursuing tertiary-level education. GATE covers up to 100% of tuition costs for eligible students at approved institutions.
Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business is an approved institution under the GATE programme, and our MBA and Executive MBA programmes are eligible for GATE funding.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago
- Must be accepted into an approved programme at an approved institution
- Must not hold a previous degree at the same level or higher (for undergraduate programmes)
- Must maintain satisfactory academic progress
- Must be enrolled in a full-time or part-time programme

Apply to ALJ GSB
Submit your application and receive acceptance letter
Register Online
Create account on GATE website and complete online application
Submit Documents
Upload required documents including acceptance letter
Receive Approval
Wait for GATE approval and begin your studies
Important Deadlines
GATE applications should be submitted at least 6 weeks before the start of your programme. Late applications may not be processed in time for the semester start date. Check the GATE website for specific deadlines for each academic year.
Scholarships & Awards
Merit-based and need-based scholarships for exceptional students
Academic Excellence Scholarship
Awarded to incoming students with outstanding academic records and GMAT/GRE scores.
Award Amount:
Up to 50% of tuition fees
Eligibility:
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 in undergraduate studies
- GMAT score of 650+ or GRE equivalent
- Full-time MBA students only
Women in Business Leadership Scholarship
Supporting women pursuing leadership roles in business and finance.
Award Amount:
Up to TT$30,000 per year
Eligibility:
- Female students in MBA or EMBA programmes
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- Essay submission required
Caribbean Leaders Scholarship
For students from CARICOM countries committed to regional development.
Award Amount:
Up to TT$40,000 per year
Eligibility:
- Citizens of CARICOM member states
- Minimum 3 years professional experience
- Commitment to Caribbean development
Entrepreneurship & Innovation Scholarship
Supporting aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators building Caribbean businesses.
Award Amount:
Up to TT$35,000 per year
Eligibility:
- Students with viable business ideas
- Business plan submission required
- Participation in incubator programme
Need-Based Financial Aid
Financial assistance for students demonstrating financial need and academic merit.
Award Amount:
Variable based on need
Eligibility:
- Demonstrated financial need
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Financial documentation required
Alumni Legacy Scholarship
For children and family members of ALJ GSB alumni continuing the family tradition.
Award Amount:
Up to 25% of tuition fees
Eligibility:
- Parent or sibling is ALJ GSB alumnus/alumna
- Good academic standing
- Alumni verification required
